Supporters

Cetacean Sanctuary Research is presently supported by:
Portosole
Cnis SpA (Sanremo), the harbour
which has been offering logistic support since 1988, when Tethys
started to work in the Ligurian Sea.

The
Italian clothing company Breach supports cetacean research
and conservation activities carried out by Tethys in the waters
of the Ligurian Sea. As well as supplying clothes for field researchers,
Breach has also dedicated part of its collection to the Cetacean
Sanctuary Research Project. By buying items of clothing from this
collection, everyone can contribute to Tethys' activities.

Considerable support has been also provided by Canon
Italia, which contributed to our research with professional equipment during 2011 expeditions. A camera and three lens have been used to optimize
individuals photo-identification of six different cetacean
species.

Biolù
provides Tethys with a set of natural products used for personal
hygiene as well as for cleaning our research vessel, Pelagos. This
collection includes ecological detergents which consist 100% of
herbal and organic natural ingredients, which are quickly and easily
biodegraded without toxicity to the consumer and the environment.
All the products are plant-based which are free of SLES, GMO, EDTA,
NTA, phosphates, chlorine, animal derivatives, synthetic perfumes,
silicone polymers, optical brighteners, substances that accumulate
in the body or are due to allergies and dermatitis. This greatly
helps Tethys in its ambition to be as respectful to the environment
as possible.

In previous years, financial support was also provided by Agreement
on the Conservation of Cetaceans in the Black Sea, Mediterranean
Sea and contiguous Atlantic area (ACCOBAMS), Fondazione CARIGE and
the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS), Italian Ministry
of the Environment.
Equipment, discounts and/or logistic support were offered by FieldWorker,
Marina degli Aregai SpA, Milan Civic Aquarium and Hydrobiological
Station, Nikon, Peroni, Portosole SpA, Psion Teklogix, Rossi &
C.- Minolta, Tuborg - Carlsberg, Zefiro.
This project has been made possible thanks to the work and dedication
of a number of people. We are grateful to all past and present collaborators
for contributing to field data collection, data analysis and/or
project management, and to the thousands of volunteers which participated
to data collection in the sea. Special thanks go to Giuseppe Notarbartolo
di Sciara.
Field courses are conducted in collaboration with Associazione
Italiana Turismo Responsabile, GoEco, Global Spirit, Global Vision
International, Green Volunteers, Earthwatch Institute, LaMar, OceanCare,
Responsible Travel, Saiga, The Italian Ecotourism Society, VacanzeFaiDaTe,
Verdeacqua, WDCS The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, Working
Abroad.
