Supporters
The Tethys Resarch Institute is a non-profit organization. Since 1986 Tethys has been conducting its research and conservation activities thanks to support received from international organisations, sponsorships from private companies and individuals, contracts for specific projects, awards and individual fellowships, and thanks to the contribution of people participating in Tethys' expeditions.
The
office of Tethys is housed at the magnificent liberty building of the Milan
Civic Aquarium and Hydrobiological Station. In the past, bases of Tethys were also housed at the headquarters of Thetis SpA and of the Venice Natural History Museum.
The Italian Ministry of the Environment funded various cetacean research and conservation activities carried out by Tethys.
The UNEP's Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (RAC-SPA) provides support to research and conservation actions by Tethys in Greece.
The Earthwatch Institute supports the work by Tethys in Greece.
OceanCare and WDCS The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society have been providing financial and other support to specific projects conducted by Tethys, in the context of a long-term collaboration.
The marina of Portosole, Sanremo, supports the research of Tethys in the Pelagos Sanctuary since 1988, by providing logistical support for the research boat.
The Fondazione CARIGE supports the research and conservation activities conducted by Tethys in the Pelagos Sanctuary.
